Karma

"As you sow so shall you reap"

This is the Law of Karma. Interestingly, both science and religion recognize this law. In science it is often stated, “For every action there is an equal and opposing reaction.” Its religious counterparts are, “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”; and “As you do unto others, it will be done unto you.” Even today’s common knowledge expresses this principle in the saying, “What goes around, comes around.” This is the law of karma, of cause and effect.

After years of battling with my life, my demons, I find this strangely comforting. My life is the life I am meant to have, the lessons I am learning are the lessons I need to learn. Every thought, word and action that I do will have an effect. Either good or bad. These words are keeping me alert, aware and alive.

Its a relief to put aside the doubts and confusion, to believe in my soul, to live every day with compassion.

Funny how 7 words can make such a difference.

yes, relief is a good word to describe the freedom that comes with knowing that your attitude has a lot to do with not only what happens to you but how you handle it

I have always found the law of Karma comforting, too, because to some degree I can control what happens to me by being mindful of what I put out.

It is also strangely comforting to understand that everything does happen for a purpose, that I have not been singled out by a random universe for either fortune or misfortune.

Nothing else makes sense, really, and I so need for life to make sense.

Karma is a comforting concept, one that I wholeheartedly believe in. Reading this, though, put me in a funk. If my life, as it looks today, is a manifestation of karma, then all those years when I thought I was being so good and so virtuous, was I really up to no good?

Thank you all or your comments. Ye are very patient people ... putting up with this verbal dose that I've given myself for Nov.

meggie ....don't we all?

birdy ... I don't know ...but I do feel the more I am struggling, the more I am learning ... and the more mindful I am of others, the more conscious I am, and the more consciousness I attain, the more I can progress on this journey to true enlightenment. Does that make sense?

pauline ... the Monty python song "Always look on the bright side" springs to mind here ... and so I am laughing! What a relief!

voyager ...its putting it into practice, thats the hard part!

mikaelah ...thank you. I am enjoying Hafiz very much.

heart ... Me too .. I need that "now it all makes sense" feeling as well! To me, its like an affirmation from my inner spirit that I am on the right path.

molly ... patience, sister, patience.

I don't believe in karma in a mystical way, but I do believe that inevitably there are consequences to eversingle choice you make, every single action. SO it on;y make sense to live as mindfully as possible and to try the path of kindness when you can.
