So right. I just wish I had more time for solitude. I've not had a good dose of loneliness in decades. I'm not asking for a lot, mind you, just a bit now and then.
Loneliness, though - mostly I just don't like what I see when I try to make friends with myself. I'm sure there's another Tibetan proverb to cover that situation, too.
Beautiful picture, beautiful words. If you are a friend to yourself you need never be lonely. It reminds me off our dad. Do you remember how he used to say "If you talk to yourself, you can at least be sure of an attentive audience...."? Bit of a stretch on the connection, I know, but your post made it pop into my head, where the connections are pretty loose at the best of times!
There is a difference between loneliness and isolation. It's the latter that ravages the wellbeing. It is only when I feel isolated that I feel threatned. But, I confess, sometimes when I am alone I get very tired of myself. That's when I need others.
diana ... small little bits and often does the trick for me.
tanya ...couldn't find a proverb to cover that ... you are just going to have to start believing all of us ... we like you very much and we are VERY discerning. So there.
heart ... and thank you, especially, for your "slouching" post.
molly ... I don't know how right he was .... I spend most of my time trying to remember the little "memos" to myself ... how attentive is that?
meggie ... a nice couple of what?
ian ... you are so right. Isolation makes me feel antsy too. As social creatures, we all need others ... whether we like to admit it or not.
rhea ... hello, thank you for visiting ... do you have a blog?
birdy ... thank you, not sure I have enough to keep me going til the end of the month tho!
tracey ... short bursts are good! Too much of a good thing can be bad.
whim ... came across the quote quite by accident but it instantly rang true.
mikaelah ... very true ... if we are not happy with ourselves, how can we ever be happy with others?
liz ... would love to oblige and take the boys ... not so sure that they'd be too chuffed though! Enjoy Mexico!

Thank you for the reminder.

Good point. I like Tibetan stuff as I have a Tibetan dog, a Lhasa apso.
At least I don't argue with myself.... well most of the time :)
beautiful photos this month Rise.
I only like to spend time with myself in short bursts. I like to be around my family.
Great quote!
yes. loneliness is when you believe you are all alone when you are really with your self.
What a calming reminder. Shall I send the boys to you, I could stand to feel lonely for a while. Thanks for the birthday wishes!
