Time Flies ...
Its been a long 3 weeks.
My mother-in-law, the Queen, often cites the old saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions". This little nugget accompanied by a knowing look and some serious nodding of the head.
I must be well on my way then.
When I returned from my rambles, which were absolutely wonderful, I did have plans and schemes to do this and that and catch up on all the projects that lie semi-dormant from September until June each year.
I made endless lists.
All to no avail.
July and August flew by .... the days filled with offspring, laughter, tears and black dogs lurking.
And now its September again.
Time to get my act together.

My mother also likes to couple the "road to hell" quote with knowing looks. I can't say that I'm fond of the combination.
You are a good person, Rise, so I suppose you won't tell your mother-in-law that you've always had the best of intentions in looking in on her. However, since it's merely paving the road to hell, you're sure she'll understand why you can't come around anymore. After all, your very soul is at stake!
Good to see you back!
And hopefully this means that you. are. back! You've. Been. Missed!
happy happy to see you back and writing, relatives and lurking black dogs notwithstanding
Well, here's a relative that obviously didn't lurk enough!!Beaten to it by three, no less!Intended calling you today, but "time flies" and ancient ones must be visited, and by the time you look at the clock and see that it's seven thirty already, and add five hours to that.......Tomorrow for sure! Will you be posting regular-like now Missus, or will it be another two months??
That's precisely what summer should be filled with. Good for you and welcome back.
When you find out how to assemble your act you must let me in on your secret.
I found your blog through Lee's and I'm so glad I did... I love the way you write :). Thank you for the smiles (and I'm so sorry about your son's friend).
Great to see you back. Hope the black dog has trotted off... it seems to have taken up home with my poor son-in-law, alas.
as long as the offspring and goodstuff outweighed the tears and black dogs,
I would say that it was a good few months.
What does a project matter?
stamp your foot at the dog, growl at it.
What Tanya said!
It's wonderful to have you back.
My mother always said that, too, meaningfully gazing in my direction. I believe the actual quote is "the roads OF hell are paved with good intentions," but I don't suppose it matters too much whether one is on the way there or already in residence.
The Queen is having a very long run, isn't she?
