Dinosaurs are Alive and Well ......

Up to the time of the great computer demise, I travelled around to all my favourite blogs via my favourites list at the side of my screen. It came as a slight surprise to me that these favourites won't come up on other computers. Most uncooperative of them. Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, I am at a bit of a loss as to how to find all my favourites again.

Because I have been remiss in updating my lurking locations, I now find that I am fumbling around trying to remember where everyone is, what their blog address is and, not surprisingly, I'm failing miserably. So if I'm not visiting your site its because I cant find you. The frightening thing about all this is that I did a computer course that covered practically everything the normal joe soap needs to know about these dreaded machines. I passed with flying colours ... I even got a Distinction!??!!

All I can hope for is that the resurrector who is treating the dead machine can save my photos and hopefully bring the corpse back to life, if only for a short while, but he has warned that even if he can retrieve the pictures he may have to reformat the hard drive (whatever that means) and that I'll have to start from scratch again. Sigh.

My machine was less than 2 years old and yet everybody I spoke to about it assured me that it was practically obsolete.

What does that make me?

Barney?

I hope the resurrector has the skill to save your photos...Tsk, tsk that you hadn't already done so---from one who also hasn't! maybe your story will scare me into learning how to put them on cds....

I love those stained glass dinosaurs. The same thing almost happened with me when I upgraded computers, except mine are still there on the old computer I just never actually go and get them... slack!

Ah, yes I too need to do something about our photos. If your computer is obsolete ours must be a trilobite by now.

I gave up trying to be 'current' long ago. There's huge freedom in that.

Sigh. I get the same nonsense about "computers are obsolete after eighteen months" from my husband. Of course, he's in the IT industry.

I ran my last machine for six years until he tore it from my grasp and plunked another in front of me. Obsolete? Never! It still powered on, didn't it? It still did the things I'd purchased it for, didn't it? Well, then.

Here's hoping the computer resurrector can grab the files off your hard drive so you can get back to the happy business of lurking.

Oh dear, poor you!

Daughter I studied for her Highers (uni entrance exams) by reading the complete works of Henry James with her (unopened) folders of notes for all five of her subjects beside her. She may have flicked through them the night before the exams. I'm sure your lad will do the same.

I ran into that same problem with the favorites thing. What a shock that they don't travel with me from computer to computer.
And...what's with the planned obsolescence of computers?! Mine is two years old and I still don't have it all figured out! Does that mean it's pointless for me to become proficient on it?
Clearly, it's time for me to embrace my ineptitude!

Came by to see how you are. Sorry about your computer problems. Those stained glass dinosaurs are quite eye catching.

I'm woefully behind on updating my blogroll, but I have google reader to keep me aware. It really helps.

Checking in on you - hope you and yours are well!

My Mac is two years old and I'm counting on it lasting several more years.

I bitterly resent the fact that the minute you drive it off the lot, it's obsolete and virtually valueless.

my computer blew a gasket or whatever it does awhile back and I am blissfully still mucking around without all "my contacts"... I loved the totally empty mailbox... except when I wanted to mail someone a note... and found I could not. I laughed at how quickly the spam resurrected. The cockroach of the cyber world.

oh... and I created a new website and promptly lost the address and so it is out there all by itself with lovely graphics and no one to write in it... I named it something so clever that my mind promply discarded it.

Laughing at Mikaelah.
I am so forgetful now, that I write these things down in a notebook! My worst habit is to forget passwords.
Hope things have sorted themselves out for you computer woes.
I must save my pics...

You do realise that by going firstly to all the above people who have commented you can get into their blogs and surf their side bars for blogs you may have liked. That will help with them,( but not all I realise ); but it doesn't take too much effort if in the future you need to keep a handwriiten list at your desk as well. ( I call it back up! )
That computer should not have died that soon! Rise again!
